Before we kick off the list of must-try activities and places to visit, we’ll show you some of the best transportation options to consider for your trip.

    Tour packages

    -
Skip the stress of figuring out both your transportation and itinerary by booking a tour package ahead of time. These days, you’ll find Bedugul tours that come complete with the works – activities, guided tours, photographers, and of course, transportation.
A lot of these pre-packaged tours even pick you up and drop you off right from your accommodation. No more fumbling with maps or stressing about navigating narrow and winding roads on your own. Just show up, meet your trusty tour guide, hop in the car, and let the travel expert take care of everything. This way, you can enjoy the sights and activities without any of the logistical hassles!

    Private car charters

    -
If you opt for a private car charter, the world (or at least Bedugul) is your oyster. You can customize your itinerary, manage your schedule, and explore the area's top sights at your own pace. This is the way to go if you’re looking for total flexibility and you don't want to end up feeling rushed or tied down by group tours.
With a private car charter, you can expect that a driver will be there to tour you around the area based on your itinerary and share all the insider travel tips (and they can even help you snap those Instagram-worthy shots).

    Motorbike or scooter rentals

    -
For fearless travelers who prefer total freedom, renting out a motorbike or scooter might be your best bet. You can zip around Bedugul, breeze through traffic, and discover hidden gems that maybe cars can't quite reach.
And the best part is that it won't break the bank. Tons of local scooter rental joints and online booking options will hook you up with a well-maintained and affordable ride, with rates starting at around 81,000 IDR or 5 USD.
Klook Tip: If you can’t avoid the rainy months of October to March, be sure to bring a raincoat or jacket with you before heading out to explore on your motorbike. This way you can protect yourself against the elements.
Renting a motorbike or scooter is easy peasy as long as you have the requirements with you! All you need to do is prepare your passport (make sure it's still valid), an ID card or passport copy, your home country driver’s license, and your international driving permit (IDP).

Klook Tip: Resort guests don’t have to pay the parking and photo fees but for non-resort guests, do take note that you’ll have to pay a 5,000 IDR (.30 USD) parking fee and a photo fee worth 50,000 IDR (3 USD) to join the line.

Inside the temple, you’ll find shrines and wooden pagoda-like structures called Meru towers. If you book a tour package to visit Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, a local guide will help you understand its importance. There’s also a main shrine, which is built on an island in the middle of the lake. Sadly, non-Hindus are not allowed to set foot in the shrine itself. But anyone can still view it from the lake.
Klook Tip: If you want to avoid the large tourist crowds, try to visit the temple early in the morning or on a weekday.

    3. Rent a traditional rowing boat at Lake Beratan

By renting a traditional rowing boat (also known as Jukung), you can get a stunning full view of the temple and even see the main shrine up close. Being on the boat also gives you the perfect vantage point to take Instagram-worthy shots.
Apart from the temple views, you’ll be able to enjoy a relaxing and peaceful boat ride while breathing in the fresh air.
Klook Tip: It can get quite cold in this area of Bedugul, especially in the mornings or during the rainy season. So, don’t forget to bring a jacket or a hoodie with you to stay warm.

    • Sekumpul Waterfall - Known as the tallest waterfall in Bali, this spot boasts picturesque hiking stops throughout the trail and unique rock formations that allow you to take in the surrounding nature. Not many know, but Sekumpul actually has a twin fall beside it that’s not as high so if you want to enjoy a more peaceful swim, this is the place to go.
    • Aling-aling Waterfall - This natural wonder is not just a single waterfall, but a whole series of cascades and crystal-clear pools, making it the perfect spot for cliff jumping and swimming.
    • Gitgit Waterfall - This large waterfall is another popular spot that sometimes gets mixed up with other falls on the map (if you search for this, click on Gitgit Waterfall car park as that’s the correct pin). You can take a dip here but be careful not to venture out too close to the powerful falls as you might get trapped under the water.
    • Banyumala Twin Waterfalls - To get to these stunning twin waterfalls, you can expect a trek of around 15 to 20 minutes. It might appear easy but prepare for a bit of exertion as the downhill paths tend to be quite steep.
    • Tirta Buana Waterfall - After a 45-minute trek, you’ll spot this hidden gem that stands around 15 meters high. It has three natural springs at the top that flow along a sloping rock face to the pool below.
    • Nungnung Waterfall - Hidden deep in the lush jungles of Bali, this iconic spot is actually one of the most renowned waterfalls on the island. And although the journey to get here is tough (around 500 steps to and from the starting point) you’ll be rewarded with majestic views of the falls.
    -
Make the most out of your trip and book an all-in-one tour package that lets you explore multiple waterfalls throughout the day.

Spanning an area of around 160 hectares, the Bali Botanical Garden is one of the biggest botanic gardens in Indonesia. It’s home to different species of tropical plants and jungle trees and has an overlooking view of Lake Beratan and the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple.
Visit the garden and learn more about the island’s native flora. Here, you’ll get to see bamboo forests, cactuses, carnivorous flora, different orchids and ferns, and the largest collection of begonias. One of the main highlights is the large banyan tree at the back of the park.

    6. Go on a trek to Mount Catur

Mount Catur is a highly recommended hiking spot for bird watchers, nature lovers, and adventurers. It’s located in Central Bali near Bedugul, with a summit reaching 2,096 meters. You can expect a 5 to 7-hour hike back and forth.
The trek to the summit starts with a walk through coffee and fruit plantations, going deeper into the rainforest, and passing a nearby village, before finally reaching the temple at the top.
Klook Tip: During the wet season, more leeches come out along the trail. Spray your legs and arms with insect repellent before the hike to avoid any leech attacks.

    7. Ride the swing and capture photos at Wanagiri Hidden Hills

    -
Jalan Munduk Wanagiri is a popular road in north-central Bali, where tourists stop to take in and capture panoramic views of Lake Tambligan and Lake Buyan. Get a taste of Bali’s one-of-a-kind Luwak Coffee at Tegal Sari. This unique coffee is made from coffee berries retrieved from the droppings of an Asian palm civet, a small native mammal found in Southeast Asia. They’re then crushed, washed, sterilized, and ground to make Luwak coffee.

There are many coffee farms throughout Bali but this is one of the most popular spots, allowing visitors to see the Asian palm civets and offering a look into the production process, including a taste-testing experience. There’s also a shop on the farm where you can opt to buy any of their locally-made teas and coffees.
Insider Tip: Apart from the Luwak coffee, the mangosteen tea is another tasty option that you should definitely try out!
