Fall in South Korea is packed with dreamy orange hues and scenic spots like you’ve never seen them before. Places like the Garden of Morning Calm are known as tourist hotspots but are still underrated destinations during the autumn season. For those who will be visiting Korea this fall, we’ll guide you through all the scenic spots that you can add to your Korea itinerary!
To experience the best of fall in Korea, make sure to plan your visit from September to November. This season is the best time to visit South Korea overall because of the comfortable weather and clear skies that are perfect for exploring the country.
Klook Tip: Keep your jackets light during the months of September and October, but opt for a thicker coat if you’re visiting during November. Long-sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, and cardigans are other basic essentials to help keep you warm during the autumn season in Korea.
Here's last year's fall forecast for Korea, which is annually released by Weather-I. The forecast below introduces the best months to catch the peak autumn foliage as this usually depends on changing temperatures.

To kickstart your adventure, here are the 10 best spots you must visit to experience the perfect fall in Korea:

    1. Naejangsan National Park

    Temple surrounded by colorful trees
Even the locals know Naejangsan National Park to have the best mountains, and perhaps the best place in Korea in autumn, for admiring the foliage. Take in the delightful mix of gold, orange, and red leaves as you stroll through the serene forests. You can even head up to the summit of Naejangsan using a cable car for an even better view of the scenery.
Don’t forget to pass through the 108 Danpung Tunnel for stunning photos with hundreds of maple trees vibrantly lining your path. Pay your respects with a visit to Naejangsan Temple, a traditional Buddhist temple that was originally built in the year 636 and has undergone reconstruction since then to maintain its structure.
The best time to visit Naejangsan National Park for a top-tier experience is from mid-October to mid-November when the leaves are in the process of changing colors. Remember to strike your best poses for this one!
Klook Tip: Naejangsan National Park has a variety of hiking trails of different difficulties. Make sure to pack comfy running or hiking shoes, a light jacket, and maybe even a scarf as it can get colder in the evenings.

    2. Seoraksan National Park

If you love the outdoors, then you will love exploring the various flora and fauna that call Seoraksan National Park “home.” The park and preservation area is also the location of Korea’s third-highest peak and Seoraksan Mountain's main peak, Daecheongbong Peak. The mountain takes its name “Seorak,” meaning snowy peak, from Daecheongbong, which is covered in snow half the year.
During fall in Korea, visitors can view the autumn foliage along the valleys, mountain peaks, and rock formations! Plan your trip for mid-October when the hiking trails are all covered in red and yellow leaves and every second is a photo opportunity.

Haneul Park, which translates to ‘Sky Park,’ is aptly named since it can be found at the highest point of World Cup Park and offers an amazing view of the city of Seoul. During fall in Korea, the park is completely transformed by silver grass or pampas grass that covers the area.
In October, the Pampas Grass Festival is held at the park, where you can find different Pampas Grass crafts and the park is open until later than usual. Another popular attraction at Haneul Park is the Pink Muhly Grass which visitors love to take photos in. The pink bed of flowers is a very popular Instagrammable spot, so make sure to have your cameras and poses ready!
