Located at the western tip of the West Kowloon Cultural District, The Hong Kong Palace Museum presents several hundred priceless treasures from the Palace Museum. Many of them are on display in Hong Kong for the first time, while others have never been shown to the public before. Embracing new curatorial approaches, the Museum will offer a Hong Kong perspective and a global vision, and regularly presents special exhibitions featuring Chinese art and culture, as well as art and treasures from other parts of the world.
Nine Galleries at a Glance
The Hong Kong Palace Museum contains a total of nine galleries, each hosting thematic exhibitions. In the Opening Exhibition, five of the nine galleries will host exhibitions that dive into a wide range of topics related to the Palace Museum, including its architecture, art collections (including paintings, calligraphies, ceramics and art objects), cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries in the Ming and Qing dynasties, court life and culture, as well as the museum’s role in intangible cultural heritage transmission. Two other galleries will feature Chinese art collections from Hong Kong along with multimedia installations from Hong Kong artists inspired by palace culture. The Museum regularly presents special exhibitions featuring Chinese art and culture, as well as art and treasures from other parts of the world.

Special Exhibition
Gallery 8 - Bank of China (Hong Kong) Presents: “The Origins of Chinese Civilisation” (25 September 2024 to 7 February 2025)
As one of the world’s four great civilisations, Chinese civilisation is extensive and profound, boasting a long history stretching back to antiquity. Featuring nearly 110 precious objects from 14 major cultural institutions, including 16 grade-one national treasures, the exhibition presents the origins, formation, and development of Chinese civilisation. The treasures on display include ceramics, jades, stone sculptures, bone objects, bronze objects, and more, dating back to the mid-to-late Neolithic period and up to the Xia dynasty (8,200 to 3,500 years before the present). Nearly all the loans are displayed in Hong Kong for the first time
Gallery 9: “The Adorned Body: French Fashion and Jewellery 1770–1910 from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris” (26 June 2024 to 14 October 2024)
The exhibition features over 300 stunning pieces of French costume, jewellery, and accessory from the late 18th to the early 20th centuries from the Musée des Arts Décoratifs, home to France’s foremost national fashion collection, to illustrate the power of fashion to transform the body in France during that period of time. Almost all exhibits will be displayed in Asia for the first time, and some of them have never been seen outside of Paris or France
