Ahmedabad

Located in the state of Gujarat, Ahmedabad was once an important business center during the Mughal period. The city is known for being the home of Mahatma Gandhi, who lived at the famous Sabarmati Ashram for about 12 years with his wife Kasturba Gandhi. Ahmedabad also boasts of fascinating monuments, unique style of architecture that blends Hindu and Islamic influences, historical museums, and gorgeous lakes. It currently has a booming textile industry and is often referred to as the "Manchester of the East".
