  • The Longji Rice Terraces are located in Longsheng County, Guilin City, Guangxi Province. They are stacked layer upon layer, like a giant green staircase. They not only have practical agricultural production and living functions, but also are a spectacular natural painting that attracts many tourists to come and watch.
  • The Longji Rice Terraces area is rich in species resources and has a magnificent landscape. It is not only a model of harmonious coexistence among all ethnic groups in my country, but also a model of soil and water conservation in the mountains of southern China. It has appeared in prominent positions in major global media as a national business card many times.

À quoi s’attendre

  • Longji Rice Terraces is a large-scale terraced field group in Guilin. There are several ancient ethnic minority villages here, where the Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups live. The famous villages are Ping'an Village, Jinkeng Dazhai, Gu Zhuang Village, and Huangluo Yao Village. It is more convenient to drive to Longji Rice Terraces. The main activities are hiking to see the scenery and taking photos. You can also try local farm dishes, stay in a beautiful homestay, and experience the customs of ethnic minorities.
  • Ping’an Zhuang Rice Terraces: A Classic Pastoral Landscape Ping’an Village is a classic place to visit Longji Rice Terraces. Tourism here was developed earlier, and the facilities for eating, drinking and playing are more complete. There are 170 households and a population of more than 700 people. It is a Zhuang village, mostly inhabited by the Zhuang people with the surname Liao. The terraces are mostly composed of small plots, and the scenery is quiet and beautiful. In autumn, when the crops mature, there is only a golden color. The autumn terraces are particularly beautiful at this time. The viewing platforms in the scenic area are “Seven Stars with the Moon” and “Nine Dragons and Five Tigers”, but you need to use some imagination when playing. “Seven stars with the moon” refers to the seven small hills left when the fields were opened that year, like seven small stars accompanying the moon-like terraces. “Nine dragons and five tigers” refers to the nine small ridges that the main vein of Longji branches out here. The five slightly raised hills are like five tigers. They surround the terraces and guard this land.
  • Longji Ancient Zhuang Village Terraces: Original Ecological Beauty with a Long History Longji Ancient Zhuang Village is one of the ancient villages with a long history in the scenic area, which can be traced back to the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. Longji Ancient Zhuang Village has more than 200 households and more than 1,000 people. It is a Zhuang village, mostly inhabited by the Zhuang people of the three surnames of Pan, Liao and Hou. Due to the blocked transportation and late development, the original terraced landscape is preserved here, and the traditional stilt-style stilt wooden buildings distributed along the ridge are original and unique. When you are touring, you can walk up along the bluestone road, admire the stone bridges, stone tablets, stone carvings, etc. that tell the history of the past, pass the “ancestor field”, and arrive at the “Changgou” viewing platform to overlook the beautiful scenery of the whole village. When you go down the mountain, you can stand at the “Youlong Xiajiang” viewing point to see the layers of terraces like a giant dragon circling down to Jinjiang, which is very spectacular.
  • Jinkeng Hongyao Terraces: Magnificent Field Curves In addition to the spectacular terraced scenery, the long hair of the Hongyao girls here is a beautiful landscape. Jinkeng Dayao Village has 245 households and more than 1,130 people. It is a Yao village, mostly inhabited by the Yao surname Pan. When you visit, you can choose to go up the stone road and go to the “Thousand-Layer Ladder” viewing platform first to see the layers of terraces piled up to the clouds like a ladder to the sky, which is very magnificent. Continue to go up, there is the “Xishan Shaole” viewing platform, where you can overlook the panoramic view of the terraces, which is spectacular. If you want to go to the “Golden Buddha Peak” viewing platform and enjoy the magical view of the whole mountain sitting like Maitreya Buddha, you need to take the cable car directly up the mountain from Jinkeng Dazhai at the foot of the mountain.
  • Tour route: One-day tour: Ping’an Zhuang Terraces or Ancient Zhuangzhai Terraces or Jinkeng Dazhai + Huangluo Yao Village. If you only have one day to visit Longji Terraces, it is recommended that you go directly to a village to see the scenery and taste the local farm delicacies after purchasing the scenic spot ticket. Two-day/multi-day tour: Jinkeng Hongyao Terraces-Ping’an Zhuang Terraces-Longji Ancient Zhuangzhai Terraces. If you plan to stay for a few more days, you can visit from far to near in the direction of Guilin city. Enjoy the terraces, visit ancient villages, and appreciate the customs of ethnic minorities.
  • Enjoy the sunrise and sunset: Watching the sunrise over the terraces is a must-do for many tourists, and even many photography enthusiasts come here for the sunrise. There are three sunrise and sunset viewing points at Jinkeng Hongyao Rice Terraces: "Xishan Shaole" is a viewing point which is farther away but has a wider field of view. It is great for watching the sunrise and sunset. Many promotional videos of Longji Rice Terraces were shot here; the "Thousand-Layered Ladder" viewing platform is relatively close to the foot of the mountain. Here you can see the Yao people's village and feel the integration of humanity and nature. It is suitable for watching the sunset; "Golden Buddha Peak" is the place to shoot the sunset. Due to its distance, not many people took pictures here before. In recent years, a cable car has been opened from the entrance of Jinkeng Dazhai Scenic Area to the Golden Buddha Peak, making it much more convenient to take pictures here.
