About Nikko Futarasan Shrine Treasure Hall

Commemoration of the Completion of the Grand Restoration Project of the Main Shrine on Mount Nantai, dated 1240. Commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of the Birth of Tochigi Prefecture and the 60th Anniversary of the Opening of the Treasure Museum.

Special exhibition: "Famous Sword · Sacred Treasures"

Originally planned as a special exhibition to commemorate the completion of the grand restoration project of the main shrine, the exhibition was postponed due to the pandemic. However, this year also marks the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Tochigi Prefecture. Therefore, we have decided to hold both commemorations simultaneously. This exhibition showcases the national treasures "Bizen Nagamitsu" and "Rai Kunitoshi," which are the two swords that have not been displayed since the Treasure Sword Exhibition held in 2012 (The 24th year of Heisei Period). In addition, we will exhibit precious sacred treasures. For example, there are the over 3-meter-long Tachi Sword "Nenokirimaru" and "Imono" (bestowed by the Imperial Family), as well as the "Mount Nantai Artifacts", which serve as symbols of faith.
